A space for healing, self-discovery, and transformation. No matter how lost or burdened by pain you may feel, therapy can help you navigate the path forward—revealing deep insight, uncovering your true voice, and guiding you toward clarity, healing, and meaningful change.
Together we can discuss which approach might work best for you.
Psychotherapy for Individuals, Couples, Children, and Groups
Approach
My work is holistic, relational, and deeply attuned to the mind-body connection. Grounded in psychodynamic and attachment-based principles, I help uncover unconscious patterns and relational dynamics while integrating practical tools that support meaningful change. This approach fosters both deep self-reflection and the development of effective coping strategies. Simply put, I guide you in working simultaneously from the inside out and the outside in. Rather than fitting people into a specific framework, I believe therapy should be individualized to support each person’s journey.
Rooted in a trauma-informed approach, I create an inclusive, affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, understood, and, most importantly, safe.
My guiding philosophy is that every feeling and behavior holds meaning when we take the time to listen. By cultivating a relationship with all parts of ourselves, we create space for transformation.

About
My name is Laura Prince McGee, I’m a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to support many different types of people. For over a decade, I worked in the health and wellness industry, coaching people in fitness, nutrition, and mindset. Being a Wellness Specialist and Massage Practitioner shaped my somatic approach to therapy, deepening my understanding of the mind-body connection. For many years, I’ve supported individuals through grief, end-of-life transitions, and the deeply personal process of organizing funerals and memorials. I’ve also worked in schools, guiding children and parents through emotional challenges and learning differences. In addition, I have extensive training in working with individuals struggling with substance abuse and dependency, particularly those tapering off benzodiazepines and opioids.
Like many, I’ve faced my own life challenges, loss, and periods of emotional struggles. While these experiences don’t define my expertise as a therapist, they have enriched my understanding of both emotional and physical suffering, allowing me to empathize on a profound level.
My passion for this field is rooted in social justice, cultural humility, and deep self-reflection. True support requires compassion and the courage to confront systemic inequities and honor each person’s lived experience. With honesty and critical awareness, I strive to create spaces where healing is personal and part of a larger movement toward equity and liberation.
I truly love my work! I hold a Bachelor's degree in Gerontology and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I live in San Francisco with my husband, two children, and two cats. I enjoy comedy, surfing, and Afro-Brazilian dancing.
Changing The Way We Mourn
Tedx Golden Gate Park, 2012
How do you go from world traveler to funeral counselor the span of one phone call? In her talk, Laura Prince explores the transformative power of grief and death, and her passion for changing the way we as a society approach death.
While studying Gerontology and working with elders who were close to their death, she became inspired to celebrate life and live as passionately as possible. Later, while working on the National Geographic Expedition ships, a tragic, unexpected death in her close circle led her inadvertently into a career in the death care industry. By becoming closer to the reality of death, we can live more present, passionate lives.
